Mutual concessions over Nagorno-Karabakh appear to be the only option paving way for a breakthrough, a Russian political analyst has said, sharing his forecasts of the international mediators’ upcoming meeting in Moscow.
According to Andrey Epifancev, Moscow’s own vision of conflict settlement relies on the so-called Lavrov plan.
“That, to the best of my knowledge, implies the five neighboring regions’ return to Azerbaijan. But it will be in return of a status [for Nagorno-Karabakh[ but rather – the opening of the Armenia-Azerbaijan and Armenia-Turkey border,” he said in an interview with Tert.am.
“That will be possible only after the regions’ return and the opening of borders. It marks the next round of the negotiations,” Mr. Epifancev added.
